Dear Sulky Friends,

Wow! It's the middle of December already, and I surely hope all of you are more prepared for the holiday than I am. We have been remodeling and adding an addition onto our house (all year it seems but it really has ONLY been 9 months), and though it should have been done in September, here we are in December still trying to get all the contractors out of the house before Christmas. (I know many of you have been through the remodeling nightmare and can relate!)

Fred and I are about to complete the sale of our Florida home to our son, Eric, and have now moved up to North Carolina permanently. So, of course, all my Florida "stuff" had to have a place, thus the addition. I know, we all have too much stuff. I can justify a great deal of mine because it is work-related, but certainly not all of it! But still...it's my stuff!

Fred and I got an early Christmas present this year (and really the only one I wanted). As many of you know, Bright, our beloved toy poodle of 16 years, passed away in July. About three weeks ago, we found a beautiful little poodle puppy in a nearby town. She is another black toy poodle, now also named Bright, who has already brought so much joy into our lives. One does forget, however, how much energy puppies have after being with an older dog for so many years. But, she is a constant delight.

Christmas is nearly upon us and as busy as we all are, it's good to remember how many blessings we all have in our lives.

Fred and I wish you all a wonderful Christmas holiday and we hope you are surrounded by your loved ones. For those of you who have family or loved ones in the war, our prayers are with you and them.

Merry Christmas from Joyce and Fred, and everyone at Sulky.

Until next month - Express Yourself!

LOOK AT THESE ALL NEW, EXCITING PROJECTS FOR 2008:

Sulky Fiber Bubbles Scarf

Using elegant silk dupioni and shimmer organza, create a magnificent scarf for dressing up a casual outfit or turning anything into nighttime chic! This fun and easy technique is adaptable to clothing, ready-to-wear, home-dec and more. It is a terrific way to fall in love with elegant fabrics. Diane Gloystein, Free-lance Sulky National Educator, and an invited Bernina Fashion Show Designer, developed the technique for 2008.

Sulky Salmon Water Bottle Holder

It seems like everyone is carrying around a bottle of water these days, but how many are doing it with "style"?! This thirsty fish will make it fun and fashionable to have a bottle of water with you at all times. Think how much the young people in your family would love to have one of these! Not only is it practical because of the convenient strap and insulated body, it is really cute! This project is based on a pattern designed by Lee Fletcher, Sulky Freelance National Educator.

Sulky Mystery Puzzle Tote

There is nothing more fun than creating something that puzzles everyone. How did she do that? This fun technique can be used on any garment, home-dec item, and more.

Designed by Ellen Osten, National Education Coordinator for Sulky, Ellen incorporates all kinds of hints and tips to make this special. Filled with pockets and a unique way to turn this tote, you'll be making dozens of these for friends who will beg you to teach them how to do it.

Pizzazz Pedestal Pot

Corded bowls are not new, but Pat Rodgers, Freelance National Educator for Sulky, sure has made this one unique. With Pat's trademark flair for pizzazz - she decorates this bowl with threads and her famous "hangie-downy's"! This pedestal based bowl can be both elegant and casual. But either way it is so much fun to make. People will not believe this piece of art was created on your sewing machine.

Chenille America Flag Pillow

This patriotic pillow incorporates many techniques that make it fun and dimensional. The white stripes and blue stars areas are chenille, which add dimension and softness, and the writing is done with a machine-fed stitch (not free-motion) - the perfect message in support of our country. (Traditional chenille making will also be taught.)

Sulky Sewing Companion Caddy

Our last project is still in prototype format, awaiting the arrival of the new Michael Miller fabric chosen for Certification Training, but we knew you'd want to see it now!

The caddy is designed to hold all of your sewing essentials to take to class or to keep by your machine. The cover design is embellished with a Sulky "Puffy Foam Picket Fence" along with bar-tack flowers and decorative stitching. This project is based on a pattern designed by Lee Fletcher, Sulky Freelance National Educator.

Speedy Spiral Christmas Tree Skirt

Quilted with Sulky Metallic Thread
Designed by Cheryl Phillips

I know it's really close to Christmas, but this is a "Speedy" project. I have been known to give half-finished projects for Christmas from time-to-time, wrapped in a pretty box, and then spirited away after the opening to be finished in January. I bet I'm not the only one out there that has done that?!

This is a fun and dazzling Christmas Tree Skirt. Finished size is 42" without the ruffle.

Merry Christmas everyone!
