Hi Everyone,

Spring is in the air! Life is good! Things are budding here in the mountains of North Carolina and for me (and I hope for you) spring brings renewed hope, and faith in our future.

Lots of exciting things have been happening here in Sulky-land. We are all very jazzed about our all-new 2009 Sulky Certified Teacher Training program which debuts on April 2nd in Lakeland, Florida. With over 15 projects and techniques being offered, it will be more fun than ever. Ellen Osten, Director of Education, will be teaching this first event. Our son, Eric, who is also a National Sulky Educator, will be there to videotape it. This would be the event that I would love to attend. Between Eric and Ellen it should be very lively! (See the entire 2009 schedule below.)

The new Certification Classes have inspired us to create some Sulky Keepsake Products for you. Among them, totes, glasses, shirts, tool kits, lanyards and more! Watch for them at upcoming Consumer Shows in your area. Better yet... join us for one of the Sulky Teacher Certification events. It is only 3 days out of your life but you'll never forget it or regret it. While it is geared towards learning how to teach fantastic Sulky techniques, lots of people take it just for the fun of it! It's the ultimate escape!

Sulky Designer Carol Ingram and I recently taped two new shows in Cleveland, OH for Quilting Arts TV, which runs on your local PBS station. (If not, please encourage them to carry it, as well as "America Sews with Sue Hausmann". There are not enough of these kinds of shows available to us anymore, and we need to keep letting PBS know that we want them.)

Lots more about these newest shows below.

During this economic downturn encourage your family and friends to turn to sewing as a way of economizing, learning new life skills, expressing themselves creatively, and sharing with their loved ones. Hearth and home are more important than ever. We are grateful for our loyal consumers and appreciate each and every one of you.

Quilting Arts TV

Joyce Drexler, Co-Founder and Creative Director for Sulky of America, and Pokey Bolton, host of Quilting Arts TV, show some of the project samples that Joyce brought to the show.

Joyce introduces a twist to the ever-popular wrapped-cord technique. Using clothesline, Joyce shows a square version of the technique that was designed by Nancy Sapin, a Sulky National Educator. She also shows how to make your favorite feature fabric the center of the square. So often you have a fabric that you love but once you wrap it, it doesn't show off the feature that inspired you to buy it. With this square technique you see the fabric clearly. Joyce shows how to make the square base (or rectangular base if you prefer) using Sulky Fuse 'n Stitch Permanent Iron-On Stabilizer to make a smooth finish to the corded center. She then adds one of her beautiful embroideries from her Great Notions Fern Card #3020GNP (available through www.speedstitch.com). Joyce shows you the trick to making a beautiful finished end so that your square shape remains pure.

It's quick and easy to make trivets, coasters, placemats, bowls, and more. You can easily make a whole coordinated set to match your décor, or for holidays and birthdays (possibly a set for the special birthday person at the table). It's even fun to do with "manly" fabrics for the men in your life. Joyce shows how to use Sulky Cotton Blendables to enhance the project with beautiful stitching.

The Santa Bowl to the right is another of Nancy Sapin's creations. Doesn't it make you want to get started on Christmas already?!

For quilters, take the scraps from your latest quilt and make a matching bowl or box in which to put jewelry and odds 'n ends on a table by the bed. There! You already have a matching gift for the next occasion.

This technique is addictive! Bet you can't make just one!

Jeanne Cook-Delpit, Director of National Events for Bernina of America, on the set of Quilting Arts TV, showing how easy it is to make a beautiful bowl using Sulky Blendables on a Bernina!

INTRODUCING THE EVEN BETTER SULKY KK 2000 - GREEN!

    Safe for You . . .
  • Exclusively Non-Flammable
  • Non-Toxic
  • Odorless and Clear

  • Safe for the Planet . . .
  • Ozone Friendly
  • No CFS'S or HCFC's

  • Maximum Coverage . . .
  • Very High Ratio of Active Ingredient to Propellant
  • Minimal Overspray

The cans with the GREEN LIDS contain a new formulation that allows you to spray even closer with virtually no staining. Spray about 6 inches from the receiving surface.

LOOK FOR THE NEW CAN WITH THE GREEN LID AND EARTH LABEL.

Still the great product you have come to love but with more emphasis on the "Green" components so important to all of us today. Sulky Temporary Spray Adhesive contains HIGHLY CONCENTRATED, non-flammable material combined with an improved directional valve and low-pressure spray to eliminate wasteful over-spraying.

You still get as much coverage with a small can of KK 2000 as you get with the larger cans because KK 2000 is highly concentrated; combine that with a low-pressure propellant and state-of-the-art spray nozzle and you get a precise spray pattern that you can direct exactly where you want it. No wasteful over-spraying.

The improved spray nozzle allows closer spraying without fear of propellant build-up.
