JOIN US FOR A 2010+* SULKY CERTIFIED TEACHER TRAINING EVENT

*(2010 plus, because we have continued the events into early 2011 in the "warmer climates" for the snowbirds.)

"SULKY ART, FUN AND FASHION FOR EVERYONE!"

We continue to be amazed and grateful for the response to our newest Sulky Certified Teacher Training Program. Each event brings more positive feedback and even the Sulky National Educators are bouncing up and down with enthusiasm about this event.

Take a quick tour through the FIRST Sulky Certified Teacher Training Event:

View all of the projects on our project page. We have a number of easy, quick projects that you can do with the kids this summer, too. This is one:

SULKY "SECRET GLOP" SPECIAL - A MIXED-MEDIA DEMO
Your Sulky National Educator will show you this messy but fun, crafty project, created by Sulky Designer, Carol Ingram, that will make you want to go home and make dozens for gifts for your family and friends. Sulky Solvy "glop" is the secret, and you will be filled with ideas on how to personalize your projects using this easy technique.

    TECHNIQUES INCLUDED:
  • Using Sulky Solvy Water Soluble Stabilizer as a Binding agent
  • Using various types of papers as layers
  • Texturizing
  • Embellishing
…and more!

Another fun project to do with the kids and grandkids. It's a bit messy, but that won't slow the kids down any!

And then there are more involved projects, like…

PUMPKIN MARKET TOTE with Falling Leaves

Totes have always been in style, but never more so than now with our desire to "be green" and preserve our planet. But they don't have to be just the average grocery store "totes". "You'll love the convenience of the outside quilted pumpkin pocket!"

    TECHNIQUES INCLUDED:
  • Paper Piecing on Paper Solvy
  • 3-D padded leaves with Free-motion Detail
  • Decorative Stitching
  • Quilting and Layering
  • Sturdy Handles
  • Edge Stitching
  • Pinked Edge Rotary Cutting
  • Enclosed Finished Seam with Bottom Corner Shaping
  • Crosshatching on Base with Quilter's Guide
    …and more!

This all-new Teacher Certification Program includes more than TEN new projects, each with several techniques. PLUS... THE information everyone has been asking for:

LEARN…

  • How can I market and sell my own sewing creations or teaching skills?
  • DEMYSTIFYING STABILIZERS and computer embroidery: I am so confused about stabilizers... There are so many choices, and I know they make all the difference for a finished, professional look, but how do I know what to use and where? Can't it be made simple?
    IT CAN AND WE DID!
  • It can't be THAT hard to make beautiful computerized embroideries, can it?
IT ISN'T AND WE'LL SHOW YOU!

THE NEW GREEN KK 2000 TEMPORARY SPRAY ADHESIVE…
How is it different?

The new KK 2000 is, of course, better for the environment, but it is also formulated a little differently. So we have this information on the Question and Answer Section of our website:

Q: Does the new "Green" KK 2000 Temporary Spray Adhesive have the same coverage as the original blue-capped can?

A: Yes, however there are some differences in this more environmentally-friendly formulation of the new Sulky KK 2000 Temporary Spray Adhesive now sold with a green cap.

Because the new, state-of-the-art directional spray nozzle in the green-capped can delivers the glue more slowly and more precisely, you need to hold it over the area a little longer than you did with the blue-capped can. By moving the can more slowly, more glue will be delivered to your project. The new KK 2000 is just as sticky and does NOT require more glue in total, just slower movement to deliver it.

Some people may perceive that they are using more product for the same amount of stickiness, but the reality is they are not.

One of our product testers suggests that if you are accustomed to a certain application movement from using the blue-capped can, spray LIGHTLY on both surfaces, using the same touch and movement that you used with the blue-capped can, and the result will be equal, if not better than, the original.

She says: "Because the new nozzle delivers a tighter spray pattern, I can target more precisely, so the coverage goes where I want it. I pay more attention to the edges so I get an even dispersal in those areas. The amount of overspray with this new formulation and directional spray nozzle is MUCH LESS. Before, I held the can 6 to 10 inches above the project and sprayed. Now I get the best results when the can is 5 to 8 inches above the project. However, with a smaller target area, it does take a bit longer to dispense the same amount of product."

Sulky C0-SPONSORS THE HOFFMAN 2010 CHALLENGE!

As most of you know, we discontinued the Sulky Challenge several years ago mostly as a result of the direct hit that our Florida facility took from Hurricane Charley. We are really delighted that Sulky is now co-sponsoring the prestigious Hoffman Challenge, which has a long, rich history of encouraging and rewarding creativity. Since numerous past entrees in the Hoffman Challenge have featured extensive and often-dramatic uses of Sulky Decorative Rayon, Metallic and Cotton Threads, we love being able to co-sponsor this Challenge so that we can acknowledge and reward the best of future entrants who use Sulky Products. Consumers know they can Quilt with Confidence with Hoffman Fabrics and "Create with Confidence" with Sulky Products. Now, they can do it all in one big contest. Go to hoffmanchallenge.com to see the 2009 winners and get your entry form for 2010.

Sue Moats, Freelance National Educator for Sulky of America, and well-known long arm quilter, made the vest shown here out of the Hoffman 2010 Challenge fabric. This vest was proudly displayed in the Sulky booth at the International Quilt Market and Festival.
