JOIN US FOR A 2010+* SULKY CERTIFIED TEACHER TRAINING EVENT*(2010 plus, because we have continued the events into early 2011 in the "warmer climates" for the snowbirds.)"SULKY ART, FUN AND FASHION FOR EVERYONE!"We continue to be amazed and grateful for the response to our newest Sulky Certified Teacher Training Program. Each event brings more positive feedback and even the Sulky National Educators are bouncing up and down with enthusiasm about this event. View all of the projects on our project page. We have a number of easy, quick projects that you can do with the kids this summer, too. This is another one:
DYED CUT-AWAY PLUS
Another fun project to do with the kids and grandkids. I know you're thinking, "Well, that looks pretty simple", I could do that – and you can!
Diane painted and dyed yards of Sulky Cut-Away Plus, and embellished the panel using Sulky Metallic Threads, and added her "fiber bubbles" technique, which was taught in the 2008 Sulky Certified Teacher Training. Clearly this is a very simplified version of how this gorgeously dyed coat was created. Diane said: "I ended up painting the entire multi-yards of stabilizer with 2 layers of silver metallic and then topping it with a 3rd layer of Caribbean blue metallic paint, then sponging away the blue paint to allow the silver metallic undercoat to shine through. Then hours of quilting with Sulky's Holoshimmer thread followed." 250 hours later! …For the whole story of her Bernina Fashion Show garment, entitled "Caribbean Sunset", and to see other garments and techniques Diane has designed, visit her website at: www.designonawhim.com We know you will all rush home and use this new technique to start an award-winning garment!
This all-new Teacher Certification Program includes more than TEN new projects, each with several techniques. PLUS... THE information everyone has been asking for: LEARN…

FOLLOWING ARE SOME COMPLETELY UNEDITED COMMENTS FROM ONE OF THE ATTENDEES AT THEJune 16-18, 2010Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin Sulky Certified Teacher Training "I was so impressed with the Sulky products & Pat (Welch) our instructor; that the space on the questionnaire was not enough to truly express my thoughts. I have taken roughly 100 assorted classes over the last 30 years and I have also taught adult classes for 26 years. I know the importance of evaluations for the future success of classes. My experience with Sulky has gone beyond anything I could have dreamed of from first discovering about the teacher certification (I was checking out the Hoffman challenge and followed a link to you) to taking the class and everything in between. The info about the certification on the website was interesting, understandable and really created an excitement about the classes. Enjoyed the photos from the Georgia certification. Signing up was painless. Wonderful communication from Michelle Perez, a perfect balance of information. The classes at the Radisson in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin were incredible. The classroom area, food, snacks and the hotel staff, the best I have seen. Great venue to teach from, do not change the location. The Sulky box of goodies was mind blowing. I almost felt guilty about all the product I received. Talk about value for your dollar. The classroom was set up perfect the first day. Very inviting & organized. Pat went above and beyond the call of duty. A big THANK YOU to the staff that put the boxes, projects & manuals together. Everything from a highlighter, thread bag, notebook paper, product information. Attention to detail really shined thru. Loved the class list with everyone's contact info. Not sure how you could improve on the details. Some of the best I have ever seen. The manual had clear instructions, great photos. It was so refreshing to have color photos, instead of the standard black & white many companies provide. The manual is so professionally put together, I could teach out of it tomorrow. The projects were all so different, that it gave a great cross- reference for all your products. Learning about all the threads and stabilizers with each project was informational and just plain FUN! I thought the class was perfect the way it was. The only insight I could give was to have a class that was just for quilters. Pat Welch our instructor, where to start; professional, informative, enthusiastic, great communication skills. What a polished and fantastic instructor. Pat's knowledge of the products and the industry are priceless. If Pat taught a class on watching paint dry, I would sign up for it. My first experience with Sulky was flawless. The additional perks of the class discounts on products, the Sulky shirts, the incentives for taking more classes....how do you do it? A few days ago I knew very little about you and now I want to stop people in the street and tell them about your products. Word of mouth is still the best advertisement, guess you know that. A THANK YOU to everyone it took to put on this class. Everyone's hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed. I will be taking another class and purchasing way more Sulky products. Kudos for a very successful class!!" What are you sewing or embroidering over the 4th of July weekend? After I finished a bunch of embroideries for the new Sulky book, I decided I was motivated to continue embroidering because my sewing room looked like a bomb went off in it anyway. So, I purchased and downloaded this design from www.emblibrary.com - U.S. Flag Bookmark #2524093, and decided I would make one for all the people who have birthdays coming up in June.It turns out this design had over 40,000 stitches even with it being an appliqué design! Holy cow! So, although it didn't go as fast as I thought it would, I stitched 3 at a time in my large hoop, and there were only a few color changes really, so they went surprisingly fast It was the perfect time to use the Sulky 40 wt. Rayon Red, White and Blue (#2504), multi-color thread as the outline, and then I added a few rhinestones for a little dazzle. (If you can't find this somewhat new, multi-color rayon in your local stores you can find it at: www.speedstitch.com or www.bostonthread.com) Check out the Flag Sweatshirt- Free Project below! …Patti

Sulky C0-SPONSORS THE HOFFMAN 2010 CHALLENGE!
As most of you know, we discontinued the Sulky Challenge several years ago mostly as a result of the direct hit that our Florida facility took from Hurricane Charley. We are really delighted that Sulky is now co-sponsoring the prestigious Hoffman Challenge, which has a long, rich history of encouraging and rewarding creativity. Since numerous past entrees in the Hoffman Challenge have featured extensive and often-dramatic uses of Sulky Decorative Rayon, Metallic and Cotton Threads, we love being able to co-sponsor this Challenge so that we can acknowledge and reward the best of future entrants who use Sulky Products. Consumers know they can Quilt with Confidence with Hoffman Fabrics and "Create with Confidence" with Sulky Products. Now, they can do it all in one big contest. Go to hoffmanchallenge.com to see the 2009 winners and get your entry form for 2010.
Sue Moats, Freelance National Educator for Sulky of America, and well-known long arm quilter, made the vest shown here out of the Hoffman 2010 Challenge fabric. This vest was proudly displayed in the Sulky booth at the International Quilt Market and Festival.

Some Thoughts for the 4th Of July
"True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost." -- Arthur Ashe
"Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are." -- John Wooden, basketball coach "In calm water every ship has a good captain." -- Grover Cleveland, 22nd and 24th U.S. President Thank you to Ted Finkelstein of Gutermann Thread Company who has shared so many of these really wondeful quotes with me. -- Patti

Kind regards,
Patti Lee This is a test…will anyone really notice my new photo? Will anyone really care? I like the other one better (of course, I was 16 years younger, not wearing glasses, etc., etc.), but in keeping with “truth in advertising” I felt it was time to change it! After all, who was I really fooling? … Patti
