Thank you for asking this question. We realized that this description was really not helpful to Sulky Thread users. This rack is basically for cones only, and we are changing the description to reflect that. The 1,500 yd. Maxi-Spools have a special insert in them to make them more user-friendly for home sewing machines on a horizontal spool pin. The pegs on this rack are too wide for these spools (and regular spools, too). If you were using the 1,500 yd. spools on a cone stand, then you could remove the insert on the bottom, but most people would not want to do that. See photo:
