Construct creative rope baskets using your sewing machine, and then embroider the base with a sewing-themed embroidery design from Embroidery Library/Urban Threads! Plus, add more embellishments, such as decorative and functional handles, to further personalize the basket and add designer touches. This kit includes enough materials to make approximately two "basic" embroidered rope baskets, depending on size and chosen embellishments. (One basket takes about 50' to 80' of rope, depending on size; this kit contains 100' of rope.)

You need either a 4x4 or 6x10 hoop, depending on desired basket size, for this project. The exclusive Vibrant Notions Wreath, from Embroidery Library, is included with purchase of the Embroidery Sewing Session: Creative Rope Baskets; the design does NOT come with purchase of the kit.

KIT INCLUDES:

Find the exclusive featured Vibrant Notions Wreath, by Embroidery Library, design in two sizes with purchase of the Sulky Embroidery Sewing Session: Rope Baskets).

NOT INCLUDED BUT RECOMMENDED:

  • Pins
  • Sulky 60 wt. Bobbin Thread or PolyLite Thread (bobbin)
  • KK 2000
  • Hand sewing needle
  • Hot glue or permanent clear craft glue (optional: if adding a fabric insert or basket base)
  • Fabrics, such as quilting cotton, Sulky Felty, microsuede, cork fabric, faux leather (optional: if wrapping the rope with fabric, adding a fabric insert or basket base)
  • Purse feet (optional; if adding to basket base)

I was disappointed my embroidery did not turn out. I then did the embroidery on fabric & attached it to the rope which turned out great.

I did end up redoing the design on fabric & sewing it on the bottom of a 2nd basket. I was very disappointed there wasn’t ant instructions on how to do the cute handles you show in your sample, even though you sent the fabric & trivets to connect it to the sides. Can’t figure out how to do it.

You will have to wait until after the class in September. The only thing I do not like is rayon thread, because of it not liking bleach and this is something that will have to be washed if spots get on it.
